A contratação envolve a utilização do benefício da coisa contratada. No que diz respeito ao trabalhador, a contratação é a utilização do seu esforço. Ao contratar um trabalhador, é necessário definir o trabalho, o período de trabalho, o salário e o esforço. O trabalho deve ser definido de modo a não permanecer desconhecido, pois a contratação baseada em trabalho desconhecido é inválida (Fasid). Também é necessário definir o período de trabalho, como diário, mensal ou anual. Da mesma forma, o salário do trabalhador deve ser definido. Ibn Mas'oud disse: o Profeta ﷺ disse: "Se algum de vocês contratar um trabalhador, deve informá-lo sobre o seu salário." Também é necessário definir o esforço que o trabalhador deve despender. Assim, não é permitido exigir do trabalhador um trabalho que esteja além de sua capacidade. Allah (SWT) disse:

Hiring involves utilising the benefit of the hired thing. With regard to the worker, hiring is utilising his effort. It is necessary in hiring a worker, to define the work, the period of work, the wage and the effort. The work has to be defined so as not to become unknown, because hiring based on unknown work is invalid (Fasid). It is also necessary to define the period of work, such as daily, monthly or yearly. Similarly, the wage of the worker has to be defined. Ibn Mas’oud said: The Prophet (pbuh) (pbuh) said: “If any one of you employed a worker then He has to inform Him of his wage.” It is also necessary to define the effort that the worker has to expend.
