युद्ध विभाग (War Department) सेना और पुलिस से जुड़े सभी मामलों का प्रभारी है, जिनमें संधियाँ, कार्य, सैन्य उपकरण और इसी प्रकार की अन्य बातें शामिल हैं। यह सैन्य महाविद्यालयों, अभियानों तथा उन सभी बातों के लिए भी ज़िम्मेदार है जो सेना के लिए इस्लामी संस्कृति और आवश्यक सामान्य संस्कृति से आवश्यक हैं, साथ ही युद्ध और उसकी तैयारी से जुड़ी हर चीज़ भी इसी के अंतर्गत आती है। इस विभाग के प्रमुख को अमीर-ए-जिहाद कहा जाता है।

The War Department is in charge of all the affairs connected to the armed forces of the Army and police, and the treaties, tasks, military equipment and similar. They are also responsible for the military colleges, expeditions and everything that is necessary from the Islamic culture and the general culture necessary for the Army, as well as everything connected to war and its preparation, and the head of this department is called the Amir of Jihad.

युद्ध विभाग राज्य की संस्थाओं में से एक है, और इसके प्रमुख को "जिहाद का प्रबंधक" नहीं, बल्कि "अमीर अल-जिहाद" कहा जाता है। ऐसा इसलिए है क्योंकि रसूलुल्लाह ﷺ सेना के नेताओं को "उमरा" कहा करते थे। इब्न सअद ने वर्णन किया कि अल्लाह के रसूल ﷺ ने फ़रमाया।
